I have started this blog to return my feelings of gratitude towards Christianity as I studied in a Christian school for fourteen years. I am a Hindu myself, but I respect all religions. The best way to serve God is to serve his fellowmen. The best way to seek Divine grace is to respect religious principles of all religions. Nowadays, we find that people are killing each other in the name of Religion. Little did they realize that they have violated their own religious principles? In any religion whether it is Christianity, Islam, Hinduism or Zoroastrianism it has been told to treat others with care and love irrespective of race, ethnic origins and sex. A city can be reached through several different routes. Likewise, God can be contacted through different religions.
This site is dedicated to my parents. We are a middle class Brahmin family living in Chennai. My father brought me up amidst difficulties and got me an admission into one of the best schools in the city (world?). Many people weren’t really happy of the fact that I was to study in a Christian school. But my family wasn’t bothered. My father had different thoughts. Though I had an admission in Sankara School, which was nearby, my father felt that I would nurture into a good human being with effective interpersonal skills only in a different environment. In the past when his mother was ill, my father and his brothers have read the holy psalm book praying for my grandmother to recover.
At St.Michael’s Academy, I was nurtured well by our Brothers and teachers. As days passed by, I learnt many new things. For a long time, I couldn’t speak proper English. Later, I acquired good English speaking skills and my knowledge also improved. Most of my best friends were Christians and Muslims. I learnt the art of moving along with people. I am sure even if I had studied in a Hindu school I wouldn’t have nurtured the best of characters. Friendship is all about respecting the differences. Many people have respected me in that environment.
Today, I am confident of facing the world. I believe in myself. I know my priorities in life. I have a good job offer with the blessings of my favorite Lord to whom I pray regularly. I thank my Lord for giving me such wonderful parents. I thank all the Brothers, Fathers and Teachers who have turned me into a competitive individual. I had the honour of visiting the church several times during my school life. I had the privilege of being a part of that institution for fourteen years. I am grateful to my school and teachers.
More posts will follow soon! Wishing you a Happy and prosperous New Year.
